Room for Improvement

Loquacious Freaker here with an update:

Turns out there are dance profiles more rare than mine. Such as: "Twista" (6%), "Too Cool" (7%) and the summa cum laude of styes, "Extra Spicy" (2%). Oh well. At least I'm not "Krumpalicious" (35%). That would be so predictable.

Freakalicious

Whoah. So I'm writing an editorial about how annoying I find women's-oriented sports gear (thoughts on this? Please comment!), and just stumbled across a section of the Nike women's website where you can take a quiz to test your dance style. I obviously needed to do this, and after answering tough questions like, "At 8am on a Sunday, are you a. in front of a cardio class, b. just wrapping up a girls' night out, c. zzzzzz" I received the following result:

I am SuperFreaky.

How awesome is that? A screen popped up that said "Catherine's Dance Style is SUPERFREAKY" and a video started playing with a mohawk-sporting woman dancing to the Tainted Love hiphop remix, wearing a shirt made of rope.

The website also asserted that my official dance name is "Loquacious Freaker." And, what's more, the over-achiever in me is happy to announce that only 9% of NikeWomen are "super freaky." That's right. I'm magna cum laude.

Like, the Happiest Thing I've Ever Seen

First up, I was just kidding, Nate, when I said I didn't listen to what you said as we ate Ethiopian food. I may have been busy devouring mushroom stew, but I totally paid attention. You told me about a video online about an autistic high school basketball team manager whose coach let him wear a uniform for the last game, just so he could feel like he was a part of the team, let him play for the last few minutes--and then was shocked and amazed when the kid proceeded to score 20 points in FOUR MINUTES. The crowd goes wild, his teammates go crazy, and he's basically carried off the court in victory. I looked it up online and it made me cry. Watch it here. (Click on the video on the right.) And thanks, Nate, for this daily slice of humanity.
